Good registration is important

The Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology (GAIT) Program offers two concentrations - Cross Media Production and Print / Packaging Production.

The Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology (BS) - Cross Media Production degree, in particular, focuses on applying graphic messaging across different channels/platforms such as web, email, print, cover wraps, etc. to communicate to various markets.

The Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology (BS) – Print / Packaging Production degree covers a wide variety of processes and methods of production – including offset lithography, flexography, digital printing systems, variable data printing and wide format printing in addition to the design and production of packages that protect and promote products in channels of distribution.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Graphic Arts and Imaging Technology majors must complete a total of 122-127 credit hours to finish their degree, including the following requirements:

  • All university required/general education courses
  • 18 credit hours at Appalachian State University
  • 3 credit hours of Multidisciplinary Courses
  • 28 credit hours of Core Courses in GAIT
  • 12 credit hours of GAIT Concentration Requirements
  • 6-12 credit hours of GAIT Concentration Electives
  • 2 credit hours of Seminars
  • 6 credit hours of Industry Internships
  • 18 credit hours of General Business Minor
  • 2-3 credit hours of free electives outside the major

ADVISORS

After you complete 30 semester hours and declare your major, you will be assigned a faculty advisor from the GAIT program. If you have declared your major and not been assigned an advisor, ask the office staff to assign you one.
