Wey Hall, that is, home of the Art Department. If you’re thinking about coming here, we’d love to meet you and show you around.
Our Art Education, Art History, Art Management, Graphic Design and Studio Art programs are all in Wey Hall. Down the road just a bit in Katherine Harper Hall, you’ll find our Commercial Photography and Graphic Communications Management programs.
When school is in session, there’s a lot going on and keeping up with it isn’t easy. Our calendar is the place to go to find out about the exhibitions, receptions, lectures, workshops and other events. To catch a glimpse of what's happening in and out of our classrooms and studios, check out our social media accounts.
If you want to keep up with what our students, faculty and alumni are up to, visit our news section. We solemnly swear we've been up to no good!

It is so amazing and it is so special to walk in and see what other students are making and working on. It is a very encouraging environment and a place to freely express yourself.

Art Expo
Held each spring, this juried student art exhibition is open to all students enrolled at Appalachian. The exhibition, held in the Smith Gallery, features art and design works selected by outside jurors. Prizes, including Best in Show and a People’s Choice award, are awarded in a ceremony during the Art Expo reception. Some works are given purchase awards by the Appalachian Permanent Collection at the Plemmons Student Union.
