Kay Bishop is a graphic designer, graphic arts instructor, and a children’s art teacher. She currently teaches through the Graphic Communications Management (GCM) program at Appalachian State University (ASU). She earned her BFA in Visual Communication at the University of Texas at Austin. She was an art director for a magazine in Chicago for 5 years and has worked in graphic design for over 15 years in a variety of fields, including editorial publishing, marketing, print, and web. She developed a PreK–12 children’s art education program and previously taught at the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts.
She is currently pursuing her Masters of Arts in Educational Media, with a concentration in New Media Literacies and Global Perspectives at ASU and is a Joe Murphy Educational Media Fellowship recipient. She is passionate about inspiring students of all ages to create art and design in multimodal and multicultural contexts.
