Glisan Elected President of ACCGC

At the most recent board meeting (October 4) of the Accrediting Council for Collegiate Graphic Communications (ACCGC), Inc. in Chicago, Dr. George Glisan was nominated and elected President of the Council. Glisan is the Program Director for the Graphic Communications Management program at Appalachian State University. There are currently 22 board members of ACCGC. The group is comprised of independent industry leaders and academics in Graphic Communications education. Accreditation ensures that higher education programs meet or exceed the established standards, as stated on the ACCGC website. The accreditation council includes notable programs such as Arizona State University, California Polytechnic State University, Illinois State University, and Clemson University. Most recently, Shanghai Publishing University and Printing College received accreditation from ACCGC.

Dr. Glisan also delivered a presentation to the PRINT19 Educators’ Forum while he was in Chicago. Glisan’s presentation was titled, “Sustainability in Higher Education: What is its place/role in Graphic Communications?” The conference was presented by The Association for PRINT Technologies (APTech) and The Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation (GAERF).
